As we dive into August, here are key tax updates and actionable reminders shaping the business landscape:

➡️ New Tax Law Benefits Are Here

The "One Big Beautiful Bill" (OBBB) has officially become law, making many 2017 tax provisions permanent, while introducing new deductions and benefits:

  • Full bonus depreciation is restored, allowing businesses to deduct qualifying capital expenses immediately.

  • A new standard deduction for seniors and an increased Child Tax Credit aim to provide additional relief.

  • Notably, overtime pay and car loan interest deductions now offer qualified individuals tax write-offs through 2028.

➡️ Phishing Alert for Tax Professionals

The IRS and Security Summit partners are emphasizing tax professionals’ exposure to increasing phishing attacks and data breaches. Now more than ever, it’s crucial to review your security protocols and educate your team on safe practices.

➡️ August Action Items:

  • Review your 2025 tax strategy to take advantage of new OBBB benefits.
  • Conduct a cybersecurity audit and reinforce best practices for client data protection.

Whether you're future planning for a sale or simply optimizing current operations, staying informed helps you navigate these shifts confidently. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.

Wishing you an insightful and productive August!
